Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!

Spent the night at the grandpa & grandma’s house last night to celebrate Thanksgiving early with them. This. kid. is. smothered. with. love! His grandparents want to spend every single moment with him that their life literally goes on pause. They won’t watch TV, cook, or even go to the bathroom when he comes over! According to Grandpa Yun, grandma could be “gravely ill” on the couch, but as soon as Rockland comes in she’s up and all better. It’s no wonder he started to call the baby her vitamin. Haha!

It made me realize how fortunate we are to have such a supportive family so close to home. I tend to be somewhat of an independent spirit- mostly because I lack communication skills. For me, it’s just simpler to take care of things alone than have to explain or make the effort in asking for help. I’m working on breaking out of that mindset. But, as for now it’s a bit of a struggle.

That’s why I tend to drag my feet going to grandma’s or rather seek Google for baby advice than our experienced parents (but, that’s normal right? I mean… times have changed a bit since 30 years ago…) Whoops. There I go again. Anyways, truth be told, some of the things they say are pretty ridiculous. But, I know at the end of the day, it’s all said in love. LOVE. Offering outlandish baby advice and critiquing all of the baby’s features are their weird way of saying, “I love you.”

I remember my friend making a note of how parents do that. She noticed that instead of Korean parents asking, “How was your day?” They’d ask, “Did you eat?” or “Do you want to eat?” Or how they’d comment on how much weight you’ve put on, but urge you to eat all this food for dinner. Or instead of just saying, “I love you,” they’d give you food or money to compensate. As much as they beat around the bush expressing their affection, it all translates to “I love you.”

And this Thanksgiving, I realized we are overwhelmed with love from God, family, and friends. And there’s no better way of thanking you all for it but by returning all that love right back to you. The FunYuns LOVE you all!

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” 1 Peter 4:8-9
